Can't distill it better than this...

People are extremely task-focused on the Web. That means they are much less open to content that is not directly related to the task at hand.

Can’t say it much better than that…and the sayer is Gerry McGovern in his latest column, “Recall ability: Web content versus print content.”

While I recommend reading the whole column (excellent commentary on a new study that proves that recall is worse on a monitor than in print, and what online practitioners can do about it), if you just chant this statement above as a mantra, and evaluate your own web initiatives based on that, then you’ll have a good, productive day… ;^)
