SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization – in other words, how to help your site perform better in search engine rankings.

I’m often asked if I can optimize an existing website. While I usually can do some basic improvements, I just don’t like to perform this apart from total site development, especially since it’s so dependent on the site’s strategy, marketing, and content. I really view it as an integrated step in building or redesigning an entire website.

But, in my research, I have found that church websites typically do poorly in search engines – which is really a shame, since a lot of people probably use search engines to find churches in their area.

So, as part of my Improving Your Church Website series, I did a two-part article on SEO for churches. I’m posting the links here because many of these basic principles apply to just about any website:
